The School of Arts and Humanities at the University of Georgia (UG) recently hosted its annual Georgian calligraphy competition for international students — an inspiring event that beautifully combined cultural engagement with creative expression.
Among dozens of talented participants, the winner was Lekshmi Kanaan, whose impressive work earned the highest evaluation from the jury. In recognition of her achievement, she was awarded symbolic gifts by the university.
This yearly competition plays an important role in promoting the Georgian language among international students. As part of the university’s curriculum, learning Georgian is mandatory for all international students, helping them better integrate into the local culture and community.
Events like these highlight UG’s commitment to not only academic excellence but also cultural immersion — an important aspect for students choosing to study abroad in Georgia.
