University of Georgia Hosts Tourism Expert from Chandigarh University to Strengthen Academic Ties

As part of a growing international partnership, the Tourism Program of the School of Business at the University of Georgia hosted Professor Sandeep Guleria, Head of the Department of Tourism at Chandigarh University, one of India’s leading private universities.

This visit took place under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two institutions, aimed at fostering cross-border academic cooperation and enhancing the global scope of tourism education.

During his guest lectures, Professor Guleria shared valuable insights on:

  • Tourism product development
  • Cultural and heritage tourism
  • Sustainability in tourism
  • Regeneration of intangible tourism assets

Students benefited from practical perspectives on how tourism industries are evolving internationally, particularly in the context of sustainable and culturally sensitive development.

In addition to the lectures, a strategic meeting was held with Maia Amashukeli (Director of the School of Business), Nino Devidze (Tourism Program Manager), and Mariam Janjara (Head of the Human Capital Department). The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in joint research, student exchange, and curriculum development.

Why This Matters for Future Students:
The University of Georgia’s partnerships with global institutions like Chandigarh University create unique opportunities for students to access international guest lectures, multicultural academic experiences, and career-enhancing global networks—especially within the dynamic field of tourism and hospitality.
